International summer camp in Switzerland
A camp to learn, discover Switzerland and have fun
From June 28th to August 9th, 2020
Our camp is defined as an educational camp with a rich program of sports, arts and cultural activities. Intensive sports camps are also offered as an option in football, basketball, golf, tennis and horse riding.
Students can join the camp for 2 to 6-week stays from June 28th to August 9th, 2020. With a maximum capacity of 65 boarding students, Chantemerle offers a stimulating and safe environment where one learns to live in a community, developing its sense of responsibilities while studying and having fun.
PROGRAMS:
1. The main focus is on language learning:
-French
-English
-German
2 to 6-week courses from June 28 to August 9, 2020. Intensive language classes, levels A1-B1. Work in small groups to build confidence, strengthen grammar and vocabulary in context. Oral communication is practiced through research projects on topics related to Switzerland.
2. Literature & Society (advanced courses)
2 to 6-week courses from June 28 to August 9, 2020. Advanced French or English (B2 or native students). Structured around literature and social themes, applying the methods of argumentative essay writing, students refine their knowledge of the language while learning to structure, develop and defend their ideas.
3. Build confidence in Maths
2-week course from July 5 to July 19, 2020. School revisions at the secondary school level. Work in small groups to build confidence in maths, reinforce basic mathematical concepts through problem-solving applied to aeronautics, engineering, and new technologies. Combined with English or French revision courses.
4. Inventors for a better world
2-week course from July 19 to August 2, 2020. In groups, participants use the methods and techniques of scientific experimentation, programming, and entrepreneurship to reflect and try to solve current issues to “make the world a better place”. On the agenda this year: chemistry, robotics & game design.
5. Leadership and Startup creation
2-week course from July 19 to August 2, 2020. Interactive and fun workshops for teenagers starting at age 11. In teams, participants simulate the steps of a startup creation (leadership skills, visits of startups, business planning, presentation pitch). At the end of the program, participants master the basic tools to develop and structure a business project to “make the world a better place”.
INTENSIVE SPORT ACADEMIES (combined with language courses)
1. Juventus Soccer + Languages
1-week soccer camp (6 July to 10 July 2020) combined with one or more weeks of regular language camp with fun activities, excursions, and Europa-Park. Full day practice at the JUVENTUS academy, one of the best soccer teams in the world. Experienced trainers, first-class facilities for enthusiastic or beginner players, starting at age 8.
2. NBA Basketball + Languages
1-week intensive basketball camps, full-day practice from July 6th to July 11th (session 1) or from July 13th to July 18th (session 2) combined with one or more weeks of regular language camp with fun activities, excursions, and Europa-Park. Supervised by THABO SEFOLOSHA (Houston Rockets, NBA) and his team, passionate or beginner players discover the NBA coaching methods.
3. Intensive Tennis + Languages
1-week intensive tennis camps combined with one or more weeks of regular language camp with fun activities, excursions, and Europa-Park. From June 28 to August 9, 2020. Supervised by STAN WAWRINKA’s tennis coaches, passionate, ranked or beginner players discover the values and coaching methods that guide the greatest players of today.
4. Horse riding + Languages
1-week intensive horse riding camp between July 5th and 26th, combined with one or more weeks of regular language camp with fun activities, excursions, and Europa-Park. Full day practice at the EQUESTRIAN SCHOOL of la Tour-de-Peilz. Courses for beginners and advanced riders: horse care, dressage, stroll, acrobatics and jumping (depending on student’s level).
5. Intensive Golf + Languages
A 5 or 10-day golf learning experience from June 28th to July 12th (session 1) or from July 26th to August 9th (session 2). Half-day practice with EASY GOLF CAMP. Based on the latest technologies and the most proven teaching methods, Alan Johnston, an Australia-born Swiss PGA coach coordinates the camp in one of the best training facilities in Switzerland.
Accommodation:
All campers are accommodated on-site at Chantemerle in spacious and comfortable rooms with a magnificent view of Lake Geneva and the Alps. A team of experienced supervisors and educators ensure a permanent presence in the boarding school in order to offer optimal study and living conditions.
