Brillantmont International School
Brillantmont is 140 years old and is the oldest family run school in Switzerland. We welcome students into Grades 8 – 12 (usually aged 13-18). Some come for several years; others come for just one academic year or sometimes one term. Our small classes enable students to keep focused on their objectives and have the continual support of our dedicated teachers. Whether day or boarding, everyone is part of our Brillantmont family, with opportunities both in and out of the classroom.
The 8th and 9th Grade programme covers all subject areas, including STEAM Courses in Robotics and Coding. It lays the basics for a love of learning and allows students to discover where their passions and interests lie.
In 10th-12th Grade, students work towards internationally recognised British IGCSE and A Level examinations. Brillantmont is one of the only Swiss boarding and day schools which offers the British programme.
With A Levels, students usually choose four or five subjects, which they can study in depth. They can focus on subjects they like and enjoy and not be pulled down by having to study subjects they don’t want to study. The depth of study and the autonomy that students take for their learning, prepare them for university study.
Brillantmont also offers the American High School Diploma Programme and is an SAT test centre. The choice of American or British programme is discussed at the Admissions stage.
Brillantmont also offers a fantastic residential Summer Course in July and August for 10-17 year olds.
Sports and Extra-Curricular Activities
Sports
Every student takes sports classes. These are organised by gender and are varied, so students get to try many different sports, either outdoors or in our amazing full-sized gymnasium. A wide range is offered including tennis, basketball, gymnastics, trampoline, volleyball, badminton and many more. We have school teams in many different sports and our students regularly compete in inter-school competitions locally and nationally.
Extra-curricular activities
A range of extra-curricular activities are on offer – sporting, cultural, creative, humanitarian, leadership. These include: volleyball, football, tennis, hockey, basketball, gym, swimming, badminton, horse-riding, gardening, athletics, yoga, street dance, ballet, drama, vocal club, rock band, engineering, instruments, art, Service Learning, Habitat for Humanity, Model United Nations, Yearbook and many more.
Facilities
Brillantmont is in large, leafy gardens – an oasis of nature, just five minutes from the city centre and easily accessible for day students (metro or bus just minutes away). We have the best of both worlds and can be in the mountains and forests or enjoying cultural or sporting activities in the city in minutes. The school campus is inspiringly beautiful, with eight buildings, most dating from the early 1900s. Behind their old-world charm, you’ll find fantastic, well-equipped, up to date classrooms and warm, spacious boarding areas. At the centre of the campus lies our recently built multipurpose hall, which contains a full sized gymnasium, a music studio and a 100m2 stage.
