With our strong focus on combined academic and practical learning, students at EHL Swiss School of Tourism and Hospitality in Chur-Passugg (EHL Passugg) have a comprehensive understanding of the industry and impress future employers with a set of soft skills, a sense of professionalism and at least one year of industry experience.
International student teams work on real-life projects and business plans. Our students gain the confidence and experience necessary to make a difference in their profession. EHL Passugg has been part of the EHL Group since 2013. The EHL Group is also the owner of the EHL Hospitality Business School (former Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne), the oldest and most famous hotel management school in the world. The educational programs of EHL are constantly adapted to the latest needs of the hospitality industry. Since its inception in 1893, EHL has trained over 30,000 managers for the hospitality industry.
Swiss Apprenticeship Degree: Hotel Communication Specialist
Hotel Communication Specialists doing a Swiss Apprenticeship Degree are working in many different areas, such as kitchen, restaurant, reception, back office or housekeeping. They gain in-depth basic knowledge of each hotel department and understand how they work together. Their main focus, however, lies in the communication with guests. The apprentices represent the values of their workplace to the public and are characterized by the fact that they focus primarily on the guest.
The Swiss Apprenticeship Degree aims at young adults who want to get to know all aspects of the hotel business and complete their apprenticeship in a dynamic environment that involves intensive contact with people.
The three-year basic vocational training consists of three school semesters on EHL Campus Passugg and three internship semesters in hotel businesses, where students can put into practice what they have learned at EHL Passugg.
Swiss Professional Degree in Hospitality Management
The Swiss Professional Degree which is an Advanced Federal Diploma of Higher Education in Hospitality Management (also called Dipl. Hoteliere-Gastronomin/Hotelier-Gastronom HF) and is taught at EHL Passugg, can be completed in either English or German. It provides extensive practical classes as well as specialist knowledge in management disciplines such as economics, marketing, HR and communication. Academic courses are combined with a wide range of practical courses in all operational areas of the hotel and restaurant industry, i.e. kitchen, service, reception and housekeeping.
The education program of EHL Passugg offers a high-calibre practical and academic training and at least one year of professional work until graduation thanks to internships which are accompanied by the school. This extensive work experience at graduation prepares students for a leading position in this exciting and international industry and leads to great employability at the start of their careers.
EHL Passugg was the first hotel management school in Switzerland that offered federally recognized Swiss Professional Degrees in German and English. It consistently maintains high standards of training and management quality.
EHL Bachelor of Science in International Hospitality Management
Swiss Professional Degree graduates are eligible to top-up their degree with our Direct Entry Bachelor program. The Bachelor of Science in International Hospitality Management offers a balanced curriculum that combines management theory and applied business projects, for well-rounded professionals and leaders. EHL’s bachelor’s degree prepares graduates to be leaders and entrepreneurs in the fast-growing hospitality and service sectors around the world. Building on their prior studies and industry experience, the students will develop skills in applied management and explore strategic business areas.
The curriculum of the Bachelor programme is designed by the EHL Hospitality Business School and is delivered on 2 EHL Campuses: Passugg & Lausanne. The EHL Bachelor’s degree is recognized by the Swiss Federal Government. Its recognition means that all further educational options are open to EHL Bachelor’s graduates in terms of university choice and transfer.

Our Campus in Passugg is located near Chur, the oldest town in Switzerland, at 829 meters above sea level. Previously a health resort with healing water springs, today we are a campus of the EHL Education Group, striving to train future hoteliers.
