Inter-Community School Zurich

Welcome to ICS, an extraordinary international school and community that is a second home to globally mobile families living in and around Zurich. Established in 1960, we are the international school of first choice for students aged 18 months to 18 years old. We are a fully accredited International Baccalaureate (IB) World School and the only school in Zurich offering the three main programmes of the International Baccalaureate (IB). These programmes provide a continuum of learning from the early years up to Grade 12.

ICS is committed to excellence in its teaching and in the programmes it offers. The school provides a world-class education taught by highly experienced and exceptional teachers in a nurturing and collaborative learning environment. As a community of learners, united by the ICS mission statement, our school stands out as it honors its diversity and embraces the best practices of global citizenship supported by the philosophy of the IB Organisation.

With vast natural and cultural resources, Switzerland is a perfect environment for “learning through doing.” By deliberately structuring authentic learning experiences outside the classroom, we foster students’ holistic development. Field trips are an integral part of learning at ICS, giving students the chance to apply their learning, broaden their horizons and develop leadership and independence.

As an international school, we welcome students of all nationalities; we currently have students from 48 countries here. We welcome applications from prospective students throughout the year. Please contact us at  if you have any questions or if you would like to arrange a visit.

We are conveniently located on a single campus, situated near the Zurich city centre and easily accessed by public transportation. We also offer a school bus service.

Our Admissions staff will be pleased to book your personal tour of our campus and invite you to contact them at www.icsz.ch.

Sports and Extra-Curricular Activities

Sports

ICS has a strong competitive Sports programme with sports ranging from tennis to basketball and skiing to swimming. Grades 11 & 12 students can take part in our Sports Leadership programme, which leads to British certification as sports leaders. As part of this, students run various sports days through the year and take Physical Education classes under the supervision of qualified P.E. teachers.

Extra-curricular activities

ICS believes that learning beyond the classroom, as well as within, adds value to a rigorous educational experience. We offer collaborative and innovative extra-curricular activities to inspire and engage students. Our extra-curricular activities complement our academic programme and offer students further opportunities to achieve their potential, pursue their passions and fulfil their responsibilities.

Service Learning, both locally and internationally, is a key component of the ICS high school curriculum. Students are constantly encouraged to look beyond themselves. As a Round Square member school, ICS offers students opportunities to join Round Square Service initiatives. At ICS we believe every student can be fully involved in the activities of the school and grow through this engagement with their community.

ICS offers a wide range of clubs to Primary students from Kindergarten upwards. We know that taking part in such activities encourages children’s self-confidence and teamwork. Primary Clubs also offer students the chance for new learning experiences and new friendships. These clubs typically include arts and crafts, sports, music, cooking, games and hobbies.

Our rich extra-curricular programme in Arts allows students to produce exciting theatre, perform in engaging musical concerts, and create innovative art across a spectrum of media. These Performing and Visual Arts programmes are sure to captivate your children whatever their artistic passions may be.
