The Swiss School of Tourism and Hospitality (SSTH) celebrate 50 years of world class international hospitality management education.

SSTH has been a front-runner in Swiss hospitality management education for 50 years, and as a member of Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne Group and a part of the Swiss Hotel Association family, with 3,000 hotels, their degree programs enjoy the highest recognition in the industry worldwide.
The Director Knut Rupprecht comments on the continuing success of SSTH around the world:

“The hospitality industry offers you an array of fascinating international career opportunities across the globe. With our double degree program, consisting of the Swiss Professional Degree and the BSc in International Hospitality Management (curriculum Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne, EHL), you will have a distinct competitive advantage in the hotel industry.”

Hospitality management at its finest:

Switzerland’s world-renowned dual education system, based on two key pillars, offers both academic and specialist professional education.
Both the Swiss Professional Degree and the Bachelor of Science in International Hospitality Management are accredited by the Swiss federal government. The BSc degree is legally protected in Europe in compliance with the Bologna Declaration and is recognized as a HES-SO (University of Applied Sciences of Western Switzerland) degree. SSTH (College of Applied Sciences) and EHL (University of Applied Sciences) are the only hospitality management institutions federally recognized for their English language degree programs in Switzerland.

SSTH’s Alumni speak volumes

Since 1966, more than 5’100 students from over 186 countries have graduated from SSTH and are now internationally respected hospitality leaders. As we continue to strengthen our global Alumni Community, our close bond to the EHL Alumni Network – the world’s largest hospitality network with over 25’000 members around the world – represents an exceptional opportunity in terms of knowledge exchange and career prospects.

‘Meeting with people from different countries gives you many memories and experiences.  This doesn’t just come from classes at SSTH, but from the great social life.

— Sante Ahn
General Manager 4 Seasons Hotels and Resorts (pre-opening)
Seol, Korea

‘SSTH is one of the schools where knowledge is given through the perspective of real practice, which is the biggest appreciation I have for the school.

— Aida Matuleviciute
Restaurant Management, Consulting and Lifestyle Coach

Be inspired by hospitality experts:

The faculty and industry experts at SSTH know what makes an inspirational leader today.

“Independent and creative thinking, outstanding communication skills, intercultural awareness, first class hands-on experience, coupled with the managerial know-how and potential, will catapult our students into a successful future upon graduation.”

— Claudio Kaufmann
Director of Sales and Marketing
At SSTH, students are immersed in the business from the onset, managing projects, listening to key note speakers from all over the world (including SSTH Alumni), visiting 4 and 5 star hotels, winemakers and prestigious gastronomy outlets.
Teaching methodologies are inspirational both in and out of the classroom, drawing upon the latest innovation and trends from sustainable culinary arts to business and management. Learning at SSTH is engaging and true to life.
Two internships, where one has to be completed in Switzerland, in 4 and 5 star luxury hotels and related hospitality organizations ensure the students are equipped with real-life experience. Partner hotels in Switzerland and internationally, guarantee quality experiences across a broad range of competencies and functions.

An international cornerstone:

The student body at SSTH is a unique composition of both international and Swiss students, to keep the community as diverse as possible. With students, staff and alumni from over 100 different countries, students study in a truly international environment, whilst experiencing real Swissness with our location in Graubünden, Switzerland’s #1 tourism region.
Not only does the location, which is surrounded by famous destinations such as Arosa, Flims, Laax, Lenzerheide, Davos and St Moritz, open up many opportunities for students to experience international luxury hotels, but the outdoor life and activities are endless in this area. From skiing to snowboarding, mountain biking to river rafting, there is plenty of adventure to be had. For the more cosmopolitan and laid-back, a selection of international restaurants and bars, designer shopping outlets and spa and wellness can be found in the city of Chur and surrounding cities like Zurich, Lucerne, Basel and Bern. With Europe on its doorstep, travelling from SSTH to other destinations is easy and relatively cheap with student travel cards offering discounted rates.

Campus Life:

The picturesque campus, a former spa hotel, is a subtle blend of both contemporary and traditional boutique elegance. The state-of-the-art annex hosts numerous classrooms and conference facilities.
The on-site accommodation, 140 rooms, both double and single, have stunning views and with wi-fi in each room, students can keep in touch with home.
Students at SSTH enjoy the freedom of the facilities on campus – a fully equipped gym, nightclub and wine bar. With 4 restaurants, students are spoilt for choice when it comes to dining.

Students take their leisure time as seriously as their studies at SSTH and activities are run throughout the week. Sports and leisure facilities are also available for use at the sports center (including 4 indoor and outdoor swimming pools).

Integral in the community:

As SSTH celebrates its 50th anniversary it continues to play an important part in the community. Businesses and VIPs from the area regularly use the facilities to host conferences, banquets, events and general meetings. Also the hotel school with its stunning surroundings, charming ambience and outstanding hospitality, makes it the ideal venue for weddings and other special occasions. Students profit enormously from the exposure of such events.
The showcase event for the hotel school however, is the Food Festival. The annual student-run event, attracts around 3,000 visitors. With over 20 food and beverage stands from over 20 different nationalities, SSTH shares its internationalism with the public.
