Let’s Move, Get Active with the Olympic Museum!

Welcome to the Olympic Museum situated in Lausanne, Switzerland – the Olympic Capital. This renowned cultural institution invites children aged from 4 to 10 to discover Let’s Move: Get Active!, an interactive and playful space dedicated to movement. Through a series of fun and accessible challenges, they test their balance, flexibility, endurance and coordination with fun practical activities.
Get moving and have fun! The Let’s Move: Get Active Space! highlights the importance of movement through interactive challenges that transform everyday objects into tools for physical activity. Here at the Olympic Museum, the aim is simple: to show that moving is good for your everyday health and well-being, while also being easy and fun to incorporate into everyday life. These experiences help them understand how simple actions can contribute to a more active and fulfilling lifestyle. The exhibition also suggests ways of incorporating more movement into everyday life, at home and elsewhere.
The area is based on an imaginary house, with each room redesigned to show that you can keep active anywhere, even at home. Dodge between the washing lines to see how flexible you are? Jump up and down on a musical bed to strengthen your bones? Test your balance on bricks that have fallen from a wall? Power a computer by pedalling? These and many other original and easy activities turn movement into amusement.

Building on the IOC’s global “Let’s Move” campaign, which encourages people todo 30 minutes of physical activity every day, this initiative enables the public to understand how simple movements can contribute to a more active and enjoyable way of life. They show how keeping active is beneficial for health and wellbeing, but also fun and easy to fit into everyday routines.
The modules have already visited several institutions in various countries, using play-based activities to make thousands of children aware of the benefits of keeping fit. Now back in Lausanne, more than 80 per cent of the content has been reused: the modules themselves, flooring, interactive features, benches and the bookshelf at the entrance. An approach that reflects the Olympic Museum’s commitment to sustainable development, which places reuse and environmental responsibility at the heart of its projects.
