About International School of Zug and Luzern (ISZL)
A World-Class Learning Community
ISZL is an independent, non-profit school serving the international community of Central Switzerland. It provides a comprehensive education from Early Years to university preparation, from ages 3 to 18.
Our world-class learning community offers an exceptional educational experience. It builds a connected, inclusive, inspiring environment for our students, parents, faculty and staff. It is a vibrant, multicultural and caring community that fosters a deep sense of wellbeing.

In addition, students in Grades 11 and 12 have the option of taking Advanced Placement® (AP) courses and exams. All AP courses are audited by the College Board.

Curriculum
At ISZL, learning is both a personalised and holistic experience. Driven by educational research, our programmes support the achievement and success of all students. Students at ISZL experience a broad, balanced and challenging programme which builds conceptual understandings and critical thinking, preparing them for a bright future. As a school, we are fortunate to have many curriculum opportunities as a result of our beautiful location in the heart of central Switzerland.
Learning at ISZL is framed around inquiry and developing a deep understanding of the world from early years through to graduation. We are also committed to a rich language experience for all students. We support and develop both first languages and foreign languages throughout the school.
Our programmes balance academic and personal development for our students. We believe that by encouraging students to interact with their communities, both in Switzerland and beyond, their compassion and sense of communal responsibility is developed.
Sports and Extra-Curricular Activities
We believe that physical activity is necessary for maintaining health and fitness. The Athletics programme highlights the development of student’s physical skills, their cooperative interaction with others, and the discovery and understanding of themselves and their limits. Physical Education is a compulsory part of the curriculum for students in the Primary and Middle Years Programmes.
In the younger years, organised events such as Games Day and Sports Day are planned for students in addition to many indoor and outdoor sports and activities. Swimming lessons are scheduled on a regular basis at pools near the Zug Campus.
In Middle School, extracurricular sports include soccer, tennis, basketball, swimming, skiing, track and field, volleyball, softball and golf. Students are encouraged to participate in recreational clubs including climbing, running, uni-hockey and yoga.
At the High School, competitive sports include soccer, volleyball, rugby, basketball, swimming, skiing, track and field, tennis, softball and golf. Numerous clubs are also organised seasonally and include sailing, kayaking, running, fitness, dance and yoga.
Student development extends beyond the traditional academic school day. All school divisions offer a range of clubs and activities that match the diverse personalities and interests of our students. The core programme of clubs and activities incorporates elements such as athletics and fitness, music, drama, human movement, visual art, craft/design and teamwork and leadership. Clubs are led by our teaching staff.
